INA - BAGHDAD Iraqi Parliament held a session today's Saturday where the file of resuming the work of the current provincial council. Few Parliamentary members objected on the existence of the provincial councils. “These councils cost the state many financial dues that will affect the budget of the country,” MP Hassan Salim. Other members explained that if the council would stay, some provinces won’t be able to vote. “The current provincial council might lead to miss the participation of Kirkuk in the next elections,” MP Arshad al-Salihi. On different regard, the session of the parliament also resulted voting on reducing the number of the commissions to 22, each of which must contain 21 members at the maximum number. Many committees will be merged with others like the commission of Media and Culture to be merged with the commission of Heritage and Tourism. The members also voted on the electoral council and the general managers in the Independent High Electoral Commission. At the end of the session, the Speaker of the Parliament noted that the Governor of the Central Bank will attend the next session that is to be held on the upcoming Monday.
