Haider Hanoun, the head of the Integrity Commission, declared on Monday that prominent figures who have been charged with corruption will be made public by the Commission in the coming days. He added that the government initiative has provided us with a strong moral incentive to combat corruption.
"The government program gave us a strong motivation in the field of combating corruption," Hanoun stated at a meeting held as part of the Rafidain Forum's activities and attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reporter. He emphasized that "achieving great breakthroughs and achievements based on the directives of the government program."
"The commission launched a campaign (Where did you get this?)" he noted.
Along with working with the private sector and civil society organizations, it also focused on activating the national anti-corruption strategy with ministries and examining the sources and legitimacy of funds as well as illicit gain."
Hanoun declared, "Over the past year, we have made great achievements, achievements that the Arab region has not been able to achieve."
"The Integrity Commission's role is to diagnose corruption and forward corruption files to the judiciary," he clarified, adding, "We have never submitted a case to the media without verification."
"We have not yielded to political pressure or interfered with political affairs since taking office," he declared.
Hanoun stated, "The Integrity Commission has facility because of government support," adding that "the commission will reveal big names in the coming days."
