    American Airlines - AA, the world's largest airline, suspended all flights within the United States on Tuesday due to a "technical problem," airline regulators and the company itself said, at the height of holiday travel.

    "AA is reporting a technical problem and has requested that aircraft nationwide be grounded," the Federal Aviation Administration - FAA said in a statement in a release. The airline said it is experiencing "a technical issue with all AA flights".

    The airline informed its passengers of the "technical problems" through social networks. Travelers have begun to be affected, and the airline reported that it was working to rectify the situation.

    "Our team is currently working to fix it," American Airlines said in X, "no estimated timeline has been provided, but they are trying to fix it in as short a time as possible."
