President Rashid: The government has implemented a comprehensive program to improve the living standards and combat corruption

    The President of republic of Iraq , Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed today that the Iraqi government has implemented a comprehensive program to improve citizens' living standards, combat financial and administrative corruption, reduce unemployment, and rehabilitate infrastructure.

     

     “During a bilateral meeting with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian in Baghdad, discussions covered enhancing relations between the two countries and avenues for their development. President Rashid welcomed President Khachaturian, expressing hope that the visit would strengthen bilateral ties and support shared aspirations for peace and sustainable development in the region and the world,” A statement by the Media Office of the President of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     

     

     

    The statement further indicated that both the Iraqi and Armenian Presidents discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, advance cooperation across various economic, commercial, investment, scientific, technological, health, education, youth, tourism, and cultural fields. 

     

    The statement added, “Extensive talks were conducted, with the Iraqi delegation led by President Rashid, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations Dylan Abdul Ghafour, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities Aref Al-Hammami, and Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahar Al-Ulum, along with other officials. The Armenian side, led by President Vahagn Khachaturian, included Armenian People's Council member and Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee Rostam Bakoyan, Deputy Minister of Health Lina Nanushyan, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan, Deputy Minister of Advanced Technology Industry Avet Poghosyan, along with other officials and advisors”.

     

    The statement emphasized the agreement between both sides on the importance of following up on the results of the joint Iraqi-Armenian committee meetings held last September, aiming to develop trade, tourism, cultural, and air transport exchanges.
     Discussions also covered the latest developments in the region, regional and international challenges. 
    President Rashid reiterated Iraq's steadfast position in supporting the Palestinian people's full rights and the establishment of their independent state. He emphasized the international community's responsibility to stop the unjust aggression on Gaza and put an end to violations and aggressive acts against the Palestinian people.
     
    The statement highlighted that “President Rashid addressing the situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, affirming Iraq's call for dialogue, negotiations, and adopting political solutions to resolve their disputes”. 
     
    The statement underscored the importance of intensifying international efforts to continue combating the threat of terrorist organizations and extremist ideologies that target the security and lives of everyone without exception.
     
    President Rashid highlighted that Iraq is witnessing security stability, and the Iraqi government has implemented a comprehensive program to improve the citizens' living standards, combat financial and administrative corruption, reduce unemployment, and rehabilitate infrastructure.
     
    President Khachaturian expressed his country's keenness to strengthen relations with Iraq, opening new horizons in various fields, and coordinating on issues of mutual interest. He conveyed his thanks and appreciation to President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid for his visit to Armenia, which had positive effects on the citizens of Armenia and beyond.
