Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the interior minister, arrived to the Maysan province on Thursday to inspect the security and intelligence operations.
"Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari arrived in Maysan province accompanied by the head of the parliamentary security and defense committee and a number of undersecretaries of the ministry, commanders and officers," reads a statement from the Ministry of Interior that the Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained.
"The visit came to see the intelligence and security effort in the province," the statement continued.
