The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, confirmed on Saturday, that Iraq has pledged not to be a Launchpad for aggression against any regional party.
Rashid said, during his speech at The sixth edition of the Baghdad International Dialogue Conference(Regional Connectivity- Centrality of Iraq) , followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "I commend the initiative to convene this conference, aimed at promoting the principles of dialogue and fostering partnerships for the creation and enhancement of a regional and international environment conducive to constructive understanding among nations."
"The Iraqi policy adopted and developed by various post-dictatorship governments is based on a fundamental principle where Iraq consistently plays an active role in regional understanding and coexistence, aiding in the creation of environments supportive of dialogue," he added.
He continued, "Iraq committed not to be a launching pad for aggression against any regional party but rather it is a proactive regional factor for constructive cooperation, supporting the will of dialogue, and values of understanding among different countries."
"Iraq has been diligent in creating a conducive atmosphere for dialogue between neighboring countries, like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran,"
"In the current era, our region appears to be in utmost need of advancing the principles of constructive and productive dialogue”, he added. “It is within our collective regional interest to collaborate in establishing an environment that is conducive, cooperative, and integrated."
He noted that "recent decades have been a wasted time, witnessing the destruction of many resources and opportunities that could have uplifted the region, strengthened partnerships, and fostered cooperation," pointing out that “wars, violence, and terrorism in recent decades have been a fundamental factor in the depletion of both human and economic resources."
“As a region, we have realized, or should have realized, that the only way to achieve a safe, stable, and developed future in the region is through establishing peace and promoting a sense of mutual understanding among countries,” said President Rashid. “Having witnessed the suffering of the Palestinian people and the crimes committed against them, the international community has come to realize this more than ever before.”
He added: “Taking effective and concrete steps that would end this suffering and stop the heinous crimes being committed against the Palestinians is the responsibility of the international community.”
