Iraqi Media Network (IMN) announced today, Friday, the opening of cooperation prospects with major media institutions in the State of Qatar, while discussing with Al Jazeera Network building a strategic partnership to enhance the media sector.
The Iraqi Media Network delegation, headed by Board of Trustees member Awsam Majed Ghanim, visited the Qatari capital, Doha, at the official invitation of Al Jazeera Media Network, including the Director of the Media Training Institute, Hassan Kazim Al-Suwaidi, Director of the Board of Trustees Office, Muhammad Hashim, Responsible for preparing the political program, Hussam Khairallah, and Coordination official Ammar Fadhil.
During the five-day visit, the delegation met with Al Jazeera Network officials and a number of its employees, as extensive meetings were held with Iman Al-Amri, Director of the Media Training Institute, and Montaser Marai, Initiatives Officer, in addition to quality control experts, e-learning cadres, Journalists of the Press Magazine, Al Jazeera Newsroom Director, Asef Hamidi, and officials of the digital media sector headed by Munir Al-Daimi.
The delegation also closely reviewed the nature of the work of AJ+ institutions, the digital sector, the documentary channel, English channel, the engineering sector, and some audio and visual production departments, and exchanged dialogue with journalists and technicians from various fields.
During the meetings, Secretary-General Awsam Majid Ghanim reviewed Iraq's experience in establishing a unique public service model in the region, represented by the Iraqi Media Network. He also discussed in detail the general policies of editorial standards and organizational structures for both institutions, and the possibility of building a partnership to exchange expertise and contribute to planning, as well as ways to use modern technology and artificial intelligence in research, monitoring, analysis and media production processes, in a way that achieves a solid and advanced message that serves the public as citizens.
In two separate meetings, the delegation visited the Director-General of the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, and reviewed the agency's achievements in the field of technological modernization and training, and discussed prospects for cooperation with the Iraqi News Agency (INA). He also met with regional officials of Google, and discussed with them the possibility of benefiting from the digital technology models provided by the company to media institutions in Doha to enhance the capabilities of IMN.
The visit also included a meeting with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Qatar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Naqqash, where the importance of cooperation between IMN and the diplomatic mission was emphasize, to support these professional initiatives and ensure their sustainability.
The delegation also met with expatriate Iraqis working in the media sector in Qatar, listened to their professional experiences, and invited them to visit IMN and provide their expertise to enhance the journalistic environment inside Iraq in the Iraqi Media Network or in academic institutions and civil society.
