Wasit Criminal Court issues 15 years imprisonment for a drug dealer

The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) announced on Monday 15 years of imprisonment for a drug dealer for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances.

SJC stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Wasit Criminal Court issued a 15-year prison sentence against a drug dealer for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances" ,indicating that "the convict was found in possession of (37) bags of narcotic substance methylamphetamine”.

"The sentence was issued based on the provisions of Article 28/I of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances law No. 50 of 2017 and the indication of articles 47, 48 and 49 of the Penal Code "the statement added .
