IHEC: appeals received do not affect election results

    The Independent High Electoral Commission IHEC confirmed Monday that the appeals received did not affect the results of the elections, while noting that most of them were around the quota and seat counting system. 
     
    Ahmed al-Obaidi, a member of IHEC information team, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "The Commission opened appeals 3 days after the results of the provincial council elections were announced," indicating that "the period for appeals receipt ended on 31/12/2023." 
     
    The statement explained that "IHEC has sent appeals to the judiciary and awaiting a reply within 10 days," noting that "the most appeals submitted to IHEC on (quota) and the seat counting system."
     
    "The appeals received do not affect the results of the elections," the statement added.
