INSS announces the arrest of 28 defendants and foil the smuggling of 460,000 liters of fuel

    Iraqi National Security Service(INSS) announced On Monday, the outcome of its security operations in the field of combating the smuggling of petroleum derivatives and prosecuting those involved within two months.

    A statement by the Security Service, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “detachments of the National Security Service continue their qualitative operations in combating the smuggling of petroleum derivatives and prosecuting those involved and bringing them to justice, due to the great damage they cause that negatively affects the economic security of the country.”

    The statement added, "Within two months, the Economic Security detachments were able to foil the smuggling of (460) thousand liters of fuel and arrest (28) defendants according to judicial arrest warrants."

    It continued, "(17) tankers, (9) tanks, and (4) dens used for smuggling oil derivatives were seized in the governorates of Basra, Anbar, Salah al-Din, Diyala, Kirkuk, Nineveh, and Babil," noting, "The seized quantities were confiscated, in coordination with the relevant authorities and referring all the accused to investigation to take legal measures against them.”
