Kirkuk Criminal Court issued, on Sunday, two life prison sentences against two people for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances.
A statement from the Supreme Judicial Council, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that " Kirkuk Criminal Court, issued two life sentences against two people for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances.
The statement added that "the first convict was seized in possession of (1,065) grams of the two narcotic substances methylamphetamine and tramadol, while the second was seized in possession of (810) grams of the narcotic substance methylamphetamine".
The statement pointed out that "the court issued the two sentences based on the provisions of Article 28/ I of the law on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances No. 50 of 2017".
