Al-Sudani returns to Baghdad after an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran

    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani returns to the capital, Baghdad, after a visit he made to the Iranian capital, Tehran, where Al-Sudani met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi, and the Supreme Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei. “During the meeting, the current Palestinian crisis and some issues on the Arab and regional arena were discussed.”
    The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani met today with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, during his official visit to the Iranian capital, Tehran,” indicating that “The meeting focused on the tragic events taking place in the Gaza Strip, the killings and massacres committed daily against Palestinians, and the escalating number of civilian casualties at the hands of the Zionist occupation forces.”
     
    Al-Sudani stressed, during the meeting, that “Iraq is making every effort to communicate with brotherly and friendly countries in order to coordinate positions and move to limit the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people, as well as to allow the crossing humanitarian aid convoys,” pointing to “the position of the international community that has abandoned about its responsibilities, and his negligence in stopping brutal crimes, genocide, forced displacement, and the policy of starvation against the Palestinians.
     
    He pointed to "the growing pace of cooperation between the two countries regarding a number of issues that would contribute to the stability of the two countries and achieve the interests of their peoples."
     
    For his part, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, stressed “the necessity of continuing efforts in order to stop the crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people, and to take urgent action to deliver aid to Gaza,” praising “Iraq’s role and ability, as a pivotal country, to end what It is happening in Gaza, creating a new line in the Arab world and the Islamic world.”
