Border ports authority announced, on Wednesday, the foiling of smuggling two containers of medicines in the port of Umm Qasr Al-Awsat.
The authority said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "In accordance with the directives of Prime Minister to continuously follow up the smuggling file, the Directorate of the port of Umm Qasr Al-Awsat port was able based on the information received from the head of the authority, Major General Dr. Omar Al-Waili, after obtaining the approval of the investigating judge of Umm Qasr Court, (3) 40-foot containers were seized, as it was revealed through detection that there were two containers containing (various human medicines) intended for smuggling hidden behind electric lamps”.
It added that" the third container contains (used cloning devices of various sizes) ", pointing out that “a committee was formed in cooperation with the working departments, organizing an asset seizure report and referring the seizures to the Umm Qasr customs police station to take appropriate legal measures”.
