Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari discussed, today, Thursday, with his Turkish counterpart Ali Yerlikaya, the implementation of the signed bilateral security memorandum of understanding.
A statement by the Iraqi embassy in Ankara - received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) - stated that "Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari and his accompanying delegation held an expanded security meeting with his Turkish counterpart Ali Yerlikaya, in the presence of the Chargé d'Affaires, Counselor Khalil Ibrahim Mahmoud.".
The statement added that "the meeting discussed the implementation of the security memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries, as well as the work of the committees formed to implement its provisions.".
It continued, "The meeting also discussed the continuation of security cooperation in the fields of combating terrorism and exchanging wanted suspects, as well as combating drugs, organized crime and smuggling.".
The two sides stressed "the importance of strengthening and building bilateral relations between the ministries of both countries and continuing the exchange of expertise and capacity building to serve the mutual interests between Iraq and Turkey."
