The Border Ports Commission announced on Tuesday, the arrest of an Iraqi traveler who attempted to smuggle narcotic drugs at the Shalamcheh border crossing.
A statement by the Commission , received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “detachments at the Shalamcheh border crossing were able to arrest an Iraqi traveler in possession of narcotic crystal, weighing (380) grams, and narcotic hashish, weighing (60) grams, along with drug paraphernalia hidden inside a loudspeaker (Earphone)."
The statement added, "The seizure was carried out by members of our directorate, the National Intelligence Service office, and the customs police in a failed attempt to smuggle it and bring it into the country."
It pointed out, “A proper arrest report was prepared and the accused and the seized items were referred to the Shalamcheh Customs Police Station to take appropriate legal measures.”
