The Iraqi government announced three days of mourning throughout Iraq, out of mercy for the martyrs of the Zionist entity’s bombing of a hospital in the Gaza Strip.

“While good efforts from all parts of the world are working to achieve a ceasefire in the occupied Palestinian territories, provide relief to the afflicted among our Palestinian people, and alleviate the burden of the hideous attack carried out by the Zionist occupation forces, the news comes bearing the features of a complete war crime, as for these forces to commit a massacre in the utmost renunciation of all moral and humanitarian obligations, by bombing the Baptist Hospital in the middle of the occupied Gaza Strip, causing the martyrdom of hundreds of children, women, and the wounded,” said the Government spokesman Bassim Al-Awadi in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

He added, “The Zionists have thus gone far in crossing all borders and red lines, in an aggression that extends to their shameful past in committing the massacres from Qana, Sabra and Shatila, all the way to their current heinous crime,” noting, “The burden of responsibility has risen on the international community and on every observer who sees these transgressions on the part of the Zionists, as the entire world is called upon to do more than denounce and deplore, in order to stop the Israeli death machine that targets civilians, while it is delusional that by doing so it will clear the Palestinian cause."

"Just as we call on our Arab brothers, friendly countries, and the free world, to adopt a unified position by issuing an urgent and immediate resolution from the UN Security Council to stop this blatant, ugly aggression, and we find, on this sad day, an opportunity to assert Iraq's firm and principled position on the right of the Palestinian people to have a free and generous life to their land and national soil. That should include no retreat from obtaining this right, which will not lapse with time, and will only become more established," he stressed.

Al-Awadi asserted, "We also declare general mourning throughout the Republic of Iraq for three days, out of loyalty and honor to the innocent souls who fell victim to international silence before they fell victim to the fire of barbaric aggression."
