Iraq , Egypt discuss enhancing cooperation in the field of water resources

    Minister of Water Resources Aoun Dhiab Abdullah discussed Today, Thursday, with Egyptian Ambassador Walid Mohamed Ismail enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the field of resources.

    The Ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Minister of Water Resources received in his office at the Ministry’s center the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Iraq, Walid Muhammad Ismail,” noting that “the meeting discussed joint cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries in the field of resources.” Water resources to enhance and develop them and benefit from the Egyptian experience in the field of using wastewater to transform desert areas into green oases."

    During the meeting, Minister Dhiab stressed, "Iraq seeks to activate and expand the scope of cooperation with the Egyptian side and to benefit from its expertise that can be employed in Iraq through reputable companies in the field of reclamation, adopting modern irrigation methods, exchanging experiences, and activating the work of joint committees between the two sides for the purpose of developing the water resources sector and confronting challenges in light of the acceleration of climate change and its effects on countries of the world and the region."

    For his part, the ambassador extended an invitation to the Minister of Resources to participate in Cairo Water Week, which will be held at the end of October, appreciating “the efforts made by the Minister to advance and develop the bonds of cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the water resources sector."

    The statement added, "The meeting was attended by the Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry, Hussein Abdel Amir Bakkah, and the Director General of the Planning and Follow-up Department at the Ministry's center."
