The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the local elections are important to determine the nature of the next stage in Iraq.
Al-Hakim's media office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the head of the National Wisdom (Al-Hikma) Movement, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, met with the Ambassador of the United States of America to Baghdad, Elena Romanski."
The head of the Al-Hikma Movement reviewed "the results of Iraq's attendance at United Nations meetings and the international and regional openness to Iraq and the follow-up of its political and security developments," pointing to "the nature of the relationship between Baghdad and Washington and ways to develop it in a way that serves the interests of the two countries."
He called for "continuing the meetings of the joint committees between the two sides," indicating that "these meetings are sufficient to find solutions to the problems or to bring viewpoints closer together on some files."
Al-Hakim stressed, "The importance of the upcoming local elections," noting that "these elections are important for reading the nature of the next stage in Iraq."
He stressed, "Holding elections on time and competing on the basis of service programs, considering that the provincial councils are service councils concerned with the daily needs of citizens."
"The government's support," noting that "its support will enhance Iraq's stability and will contribute to deepening Iraq's interests with the countries of the region and the world." Al-Hakim said.
He pointed out, "The importance of Iraq's stability as a main condition for the stability of the region and the world, and this is what events and experiences have proven."
