Border Ports Authority announced On Monday, the arrest of two travelers who attempted to smuggle narcotic drugs at the Shalamcheh border crossing.
A statement by the Authority, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “The Directorate of the Shalamja border crossing was able to arrest two Iraqi travelers who were found in possession of the narcotic substance Al-Tariaq, weighing (980) grams, and the narcotic marijuana substance, weighing (290) grams, hidden inside a loudspeaker."
The statement added, "The seizure was carried out by members of the Customs Police Station, members of the Port Protection Force Directorate, and the National Intelligence Service office in a failed attempt to smuggle it and bring it into the country."
It continued,“The accused and the seized items were referred to the Shalamcheh Customs Police Station to take appropriate legal measures.”
