Prime Minister Al-Sudani Chairs 3rd Meeting of Higher Committee for Water and Mobilizes Efforts to Address Water Crisis

    The media office of the prime minister said in a statement received by Iraqi News Agency (INA) that, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani chaired the third meeting of the Higher Committee for Water, where they reviewed the country's strategic water storage situation and water release rates from neighboring source countries. They also followed up on previous directives, discussed obstacles in implementing water crisis plans, and explored rapid solutions.
     
    Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts with neighboring countries to address the water issue, ensuring Iraq's rights in line with international agreements that safeguard each country's water shares.
     
    The Prime Minister ordered full support and efforts mobilization for the upcoming agricultural season. He stressed the importance of overcoming obstacles related to adopting modern and smart irrigation technologies. Additionally, he emphasized the need to address concerns raised by some individuals through truthful and responsible media communication, while also using legal channels.
     
    During the meeting, various topics on the agenda were discussed, and several important decisions and recommendations were made, which will now be implemented.
