Iraq prioritizes consolidating security and stability, President Rashid says

    President of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received on Tuesday, Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Bishr Al-Khasawneh at Baghdad Palace. The Jordanian Prime Minister is heading a high-level delegation to the country.
     
    “During the meeting, President Rashid underscored the depth of historical relations and common bonds linking the people of Iraq and Jordan, and stressed the need to build upon these relations to serve the aspirations and interests of the two countries”, stated the Presidency of the Republic in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency-INA.
     
     
    ‘President Rashid explained that the consolidation of security and stability in Iraq is a top priority in the government’s program, as it is critical to the future of the country and the stability of the entire region, he also expressed optimism that the government’s objectives are being met" the statement added.
     
    President Rashid lauded the very efficient management of Jordan’s water resources, as well as its health and pharmaceutical industries, observing that Iraq can benefit from Jordan’s experiences and expertise on these issues.
     
    “He added that Iraq is looking forward to more coordination and economic cooperation to complete joint projects between the two countries, especially in the fields of energy, industry and investment,” the statement continued.
     
     
    For his part, the Jordanian Prime Minister reiterated his country's support for Iraq in its ongoing efforts to strengthen security and stability, concurring that the security of Iraq is paramount for the security of the entire region.
     
    Prime Minister Al-Khasawneh expressed his appreciation to the Iraqi President and First Lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed for attending the wedding ceremony of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah.
     
    He pointed to the importance of strengthening brotherly relations between the two countries and expanding the horizons of constructive cooperation in the fields of energy, economy and industry to serve the common interests of two brotherly peoples, stressing that Iraq and Jordan participate in efforts to confront terrorism. He noted the leading role of Iraq in confronting terrorist gangs.
     
    The Jordanian Prime Minister also commended the positive developments in Iraq and the return to normalcy in Baghdad during his tour of the streets of the capital.
     
    The meeting was attended on the Iraqi side by Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari, and on the Jordanian side by Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya as well as Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Iraq Muntaser al-Zubi. Several officials and advisers from both sides were also present.
