PM remarks on the 103 anniversary of the Great Iraqi Revolution, 1920

    INA - BAGHDAD

    Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani made remarks commemorating the 103rd anniversary of the Great Iraqi Revolution of 1920 at the Festival of Al Dawalim tribe in Al-Muthanna Governorate.
     
    This came in a statement by the Prime Minister Media office and received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA, where the it included:
     
    Extending gratitude to Al Dawalim tribe, as well as to esteemed sheikhs, professors, and all attendees who joined the PM in commemorating the anniversary of the Great Iraqi Revolution of 1920, “Al-Muthanna Governorate tribes and people, has served as a profound source of inspiration for all regions of Iraq shaping the modern history of our nation. From this land, the shape of modern Iraq emerged, marking the beginning of its people asserting their will and standing against all colonial powers.”
     
    The statement also included, “The revolution started from this province, and the Iraqis participated in it, from Basra up to Kurdistan, and created an awareness and a sense of Iraqi patriotism, and contributed to the independence of Iraq. As we commemorate the Great Iraqi Revolution of 1920, we honor the noble values and principles that drove the sheikhs and sons of Iraq to make sacrifices in response to the call of the religious authority during that time.”
     
    “History repeated itself when ISIS invaded Iraq, and once again, the people, led by the honorable tribesman, heeded the call of the religious authority, rallying for jihad and defending their land,” according to the statement, adding “Building the state demands our commitment and sacrifices. We were at a crossroads. It's either building a prosperous nation or facing chaos and loss. We have pledged to our people to honor their trust and prioritize the welfare of Iraqis above all else, never allowing personal interests to come before their well-being.”
     
    PM Al-Sudani asserted, “Our priorities in state-building revolve around providing essential services, creating job opportunities, eradicating poverty, implementing economic reforms, and combating corruption. We tirelessly work on these priorities day and night, without favoring any party, to ensure their successful implementation. The tribe stands as a fundamental pillar and a crucial support for social security, backing the state in all its institutions.Our resilient tribes possess the capability to support the state and uphold the rule of law.  Any violations that might happen are rejected by the tribes even before the state institutions.”
     
    He expressed, “It is our hope that the honorable tribes will continue to support the state in fulfilling its duties and responsibilities. It is crucial to have the support of the tribes in the economic sector by welcoming investors and companies, while actively preventing any blackmail or obstruction that may hinder developmental projects.”
     
    Al-Sudani also urged the tribes “to align with oversight authorities in targeting corrupt individuals, refraining from defending them for being part of the tribe. The support of tribes is indispensable for all ministries, service institutions, and companies involved in implementing construction and service projects.”
     
     “We highlighted the positives in the governorate and emphasized the importance of addressing any shortcomings in performance while prioritizing the delivery of essential services to the people of this devoted governorate. Al-Muthanna Governorate has received significant allocations amounting to 458 billion dinars, with additional funds within various ministries for service and economic projects that will benefit multiple sectors,” he noted.
     
    He added that a committee comprising representatives from various ministries “will visit the governorate this week. Their goal is to engage with all departments and the governor to identify and address any issues that have hindered project implementation. Additionally, the committee will work on planning for essential service and economic projects. We have discussed all the concerns voiced by the people of the governorate, tackling issues ranging from water scarcity to supporting agriculture and farmers. Our efforts also include providing essential services, creating job opportunities, and combating poverty in the province. Our collaborative economic projects, planned in partnership with countries from the region and around the world, are going to bring great prosperity and benefits to the people of Iraq,” according to the statement.
