The Foreign Ministry on Thursday expressed its condemnation of the Swedish authorities allowing an extremist to burn a copy of the Holy Quran.
A statement by the Foreign Ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said that it "expresses the strong condemnation and condemnation of the Republic of Iraq, for allowing the Swedish authorities of an extremist to burn a copy of the Holy Quran in a way that represents a serious insult to religious sanctities."
According to the statement, the ministry stressed that "these events will inflame the feelings of Muslims around the world and constitute a serious provocation to them," calling on "the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to stop such rejected acts, reject all forms of hatred and extremism and hold the perpetrators accountable."
