Government spokesman reveals the start date of the implementation of the development path project

The spokesman for the Iraqi government, Basim Al-Awadi, confirmed today, Sunday, Iraq's seriousness and determination to implement the development path project, and while revealing the start date for its implementation, he determined its path and explained its importance to the countries of the region.
 
 
Al-Awadi said in a statement to Al-Iraqiya News, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The development project is a major strategic one that includes sovereign and investment clauses,” noting that “the railway and land road project represents Iraqi sovereignty because it is linked to Iraqi territory and its implementation must be purely Iraqi.” As for express trains, will referred for investment either to one of the neighboring countries or to specialized companies.
He added, "The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani today to follow up on the outcomes of the Development Road Conference came as a confirmation of what came in the Development Road Conference, which is a message to the Ministry of Transport and the participating countries that Iraq is serious and determined to implement the project," pointing out that "the aim of the meeting is Taking note of the countries' impressions and their view of the basic preliminary project, and a message of confirmation that Iraq is serious about the project.
He stated that "the participating countries are waiting for the project to become a reality, and Iraq is serious and proceeding with its implementation, even if no country or any investment company participates in the project."
He stated that "Iraq is awaiting in the next stage the decisions of the participating countries in yesterday's conference and the way they deal with the project, and it is able to implement the project through national efforts and companies."
Al-Awadi explained that "the land road and the railway within the project will be implemented on the western side of most of the Iraqi governorates, with the exception of Salah al-Din Governorate, and its will also pass through uninhabited areas in Nineveh, with the aim of establishing new residential cities and economic, industrial and investment projects far from the current population density," noting that " Iraq is determined to start the project with its approaches in 2024.
  "The port of Faw without the development line, modern land transport and the new railway will not be of great benefit," explaining that "there are no obstacles in front of the development road project." Al-Awadi said.
He stressed that "the project will turn Iraq into a point of attraction and linkage in the West Asian region, by linking the Levant with Iran, Saudi Arabia and Jordan through Iraq with railways and land roads from the east and west through the road of development."
