Minister of Transportion, Razzaq Muheibis, confirmed on Saturday that the government intends to operate the first phase of Al-Faw Grand Port at the end of 2025.
Muheibis said, in his speech during the Development Road Conference, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Development Road is a project that is in the interest of the countries of the region, as we are consulting with neighboring countries regarding the (Development Road) and (Al-Faw Grand Port) projects," stressing: "We have finalized the economic feasibility of the Development Road project, with the support of Prime Minister Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani."
He added, "We have entered the design phase and are determined to complete the project despite all the challenges," noting that "the development Road will constitute a qualitative transition in the economic and commercial reality."
He pointed out that "Our region needs an economic bloc, and the Development Road project will work to find a common meeting point that enhances the security of the region and preserves its interests."
In a related issue, Muheibis affirmed that the government intends to operate the first phase of the Al-Faw project at the end of the year 2025," stressing that "Prime Minister Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani gives great attention to the project of Al-Faw Grand Port .”
He continued "The achievement rates achieved in Al-Faw Grand Port amounted to more than 50 percent in its first phase," stressing by saying: "We seek to solve all problems and obstacles that impede the progress of work in the project."
