INSS announces freeing a kidnapped woman and arresting her kidnappers

    The Iraqi National Security Service INSS in Kirkuk announced on Monday the release of a kidnapped woman and the arrest of her captors.
     
    "After receiving a judicial complaint about the kidnapping of a girl from Babil province and luring her to Kirkuk, a special working group was formed to follow up on the circumstances of the case and all available information, and within a record period that did not exceed (6) hours, the kidnappers were located in Kirkuk province and judicial approvals were obtained, after which a force from the INSS raided the aforementioned place and freed the girl," INSS said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    The statement added, "The operation resulted in the arrest of two defendants who carried out the kidnapping, in addition to carrying out several kidnappings and extortion after bargaining with the victims for sums of money in exchange for not publishing their private photos on social media."
     
    "The statements of the defendants were recorded and referred to the judicial authorities to receive their just punishment in accordance with the law," it said.
