Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, arrived in New York today, Monday, to participate in the ceremony marking Iraq's assumption of the chairmanship of the G77 and China for 2025.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, arrived in New York on Monday, January 13, 2025, to participate in the ceremony for Iraq’s assumption of the G77 and China chairmanship for 2025."
The statement added that "FM Hussein will hold meetings with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and President of the UN General Assembly, Dennis Francis."
The ministry highlighted that "Iraq achieved a significant diplomatic milestone by being officially elected to chair the G77 and China during the 48th annual meeting held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on September 27, 2024, with the participation of the Foreign Minister."
