The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Tuesday, its readiness to launch the largest evacuation of the Iraqi community in Sudan, and while it confirmed that it had received more than 165 requests to leave from Iraqis, it indicated that there was coordination with 4 countries to achieve safe evacuations.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The ministry carried out three stages of evacuating Iraqi diplomats and citizens from Sudan. The first stage was the evacuation of the staff of the Iraqi embassy in Khartoum, and the second stage was the evacuation of 14 Iraqis, and the third five members of the community have been evacuated."
Al-Sahhaf added, "We are preparing for the fourth stage, which is the evacuation of the largest number of the Iraqi community," noting that "the number of evacuation requests so far has reached approximately 165 requests, and the number is increasing, and there are 300 Iraqis in Sudan."
