Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) announced on Saturday, the crash of a Coalition Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) south of Kirkuk, Iraq.
CJTF-OIR said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): " On the morning of April 22, 2023, a Coalition Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), in direct support of Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) operations, experienced a mechanical failure and crashed south of Kirkuk, Iraq. "
The statement added,"The ISF quickly secured the crash site, while Coalition service members cleared the area with a controlled detonation. There were no injuries and no damage to civilian infrastructure".
The statement continued,"Coalition UAVs provide vital intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities to the ISF, enabling Defeat-ISIS operations throughout the region".
