The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, stressed on Monday Iraq's ability to defend itself and support its lasting stability, calling for ending crises and promoting the interest of the homeland over private interests.
A statement by Sayyid Al-Hakim's office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the head of the Alliance of National State Forces, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, met with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs, Victoria Taylor."
"The two sides discussed developments in the political situation in Iraq and the region, and developments in bilateral relations to serve the interests of the two countries," the statement said.
According to the statement, Sayyid Al-Hakim stressed that "Iraq presents an important model with its political system and the separation of powers," noting that it "lives in a state of unprecedented stability at the political, social and security levels, which is the product of the sacrifices of Iraqis of all components."
He pointed out that "there is support and adoption from all Iraqis to preserve and sustain this stability and move it to permanent stability," stressing "his support for ending crises, leaving problems and giving priority to the interest of the homeland over private interests."
Sayyid Al-Hakim pointed to "Iraq's ability to defend itself," stressing "consolidating the internal front and perpetuating national cohesion and unity."
