Death penalty against eight criminals for recruiting prisoners to ISIS gangs inside prisons

    Rusafa Criminal Court at the Presidency of Baghdad –Rusafa Court of Appeal issued death sentences against eight criminals for attempting to restructure terrorist gangs and plan to escape from the prisons.
     
    “Rusafa Criminal Court issued a death sentence against eight criminals imprisoned in the Iraqi Correctional Service (Al-Taji Prison- Al-Kifl Prison- Al-Karkh Prison) for arranging and contacting prisoners affiliated with ISIS terrorist gangs for restructuring and planning of prison escapes, in order to carry out an organized terrorist act, " said the Supreme Judicial Council-SJC in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
     
    SJC added, "The criminals admitted that they had received directives to regrouping the terrorist organization ISIS inside prisons, recruit prisoners, appoint commanders and leaders, and to link them with the terrorist gangs after their release from prisons."
     
    The court issued its decision based on the provisions of Article 4/1 and in the context of Article 2/3 of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005, the statement continued.
