PM Al-Sudani: The government to fix the Iraqi economy from sole dependence on oil

    INA - BAGHDAD 

    Prime Minister Muhammed S. Al-Sudani chaired on Saturday, a meeting focused on discussing the provisions of the federal budget bill submitted to the Parliament.

    The meeting was attended by Parliament Deputy Speaker, Muhsin Al-Mandalawi, Parliament Deputy Speaker, Shakhwan Abdullah, and MPs of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, as well as the Deputies of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Oil, and the Minister of Planning, according to a statement by the PM Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. 

    The discussions focused on the provisions of the federal budget bill submitted to the Parliament, the points of strength and support in its paragraphs. They highlighted the importance of drafting a budget bill that, for the first time, funding projects extending over a period of three years, which will be reflected in the ease and speed of implementing infrastructure projects and basic public services.

    Al-Sudani listened to valuable remarks from the MPs of the Finance Committee, regarding some points in the federal budget bill, as their remarks were accepted to move forward with the bill and achieve its objectives.

    He highlighted the government's plans for enhancing development and advancing the economy, implementing financial reforms and their positive results for the domestic economy and creating job opportunities as well as revitalizing the private sector.

    The Prime Minister emphasized the government's determination to fix the Iraqi economy from reliance on oil and control fluctuations in oil prices in global markets, by revitalizing the agricultural, industrial and public service sectors.

    He asserted the importance of continuing to hold such meetings with parliamentary committees, in order to enhance coordination and cooperation and achieve work integration and provide basic public services to citizens.
