Hussein emphasizes the necessity of activating the MOU of political consultations with Bahrain

    Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein stressed on Saturday, the need to activate the memorandum of understanding of political consultations with Bahrain.
     
    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs-MOFA said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with his Bahraini counterpart, Abdul Latif Al-Zayani, on the sidelines of the consultative ministerial meeting hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah."
     
    At the outset of the meeting, Hussein expressed "Iraq's welcome to the agreement reached between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Qatar, and the return of the diplomatic relations between them," pointing to "the importance of strengthening aspects of bilateral relations by diversifying the frameworks of consultation in a way that contributes to achieving the aspirations of Baghdad and Manama, and raising the pace of bilateral cooperation for the overall ongoing efforts, at the various political, economic, health and development levels, for the benefit of both countries.”
    He stressed the importance of "convening joint Iraqi-Bahraini committee meetings and activating the Memorandum of Understanding in political consultations", noting that “National security is related to the security of the region, and its repercussions are reflected in the entire region.”
    The minister expressed Iraq's readiness for fruitful bilateral cooperation in international forums.
     
    For his part, the Bahraini Foreign Minister affirmed "the Kingdom's interest, and His Majesty the King's emphasis on strengthening relations with Iraq," pointing to his country's interest in "the stability of the security situation in Iraq because of its positive impact on stability in the region."
