The Ministry of Electricity announced that it had signed a contract with a Chinese company to develop the Mansouriya gas station.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Musa, said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "it is in the process of implementing the strategic plan drawn by the Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadhil, which intends to reduce operating expenses, reduce dependence on fuel and gas by operating production stations, and achieve an increase in electricity Production capacities to keep pace with demand. The Ministry of Electricity, represented by the General Company for Electric Power Production, Central Region, signed a contract within the (Iraqi-Chinese framework agreement) with the Chinese Shanghai Company, to construct and install combined cycle units at the Mansouriya gas power station, with two generating units and a capacity of (362 megawatts).
Fadhil added, "There are a new projects to install combined cycles at the Al-Quds gas station, Dhi Qar and Al-Samawah gas stations, and other gas stations, and work is underway with the Ministry of Oil to operate the second unit at the Okaz station and on the free national gas."
