Al-Ghazi directs the development of the ancient city of Ur

    The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi directed the adaptation of the investment map for the development of the ancient city of Ur.  

    The General Secretariat stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Ghazi chaired the meeting of the Diwani Committee (38 of 2021) concerned with (crystallizing ideas and plans for the project to develop the ancient city of Ur and preparing the statements and costs necessary for its completion).".

    Al-Ghazi stressed, according to the statement, that "the development of the city of Ur, in Dhi Qar Governorate, with its archaeological and tourist sides, enjoys great government interest, due to its authentic cultural heritage.".

    Al-Ghazi urged the need to address conflicts and simplify procedures, through flexible and effective financial, technical and legal work paths, in order to achieve progress in the completion rates of development work and efforts.

    The statement continued, "The agenda of the meeting included a review of the recommendations of the previous meeting, a review of what has been accomplished in the tourist city of Ur, and a discussion of the Dhi Qar project, the capital of culture in Iraq.".

    The statement concluded, "The meeting concluded with a number of recommendations, most notably continuing to follow up on the recommendations of the committee, contracting with solid companies to implement projects according to the principles of design and social development, organizing the issue of financial allocations, establishing a tourist reception center, and other recommendations."
