Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today, Sunday, that the death toll from the devastating earthquakes that struck the southeast of the country has reached 48,000.
Erdogan's remarks came in a televised speech addressed to his people from the Samandag region in Hatay Province, during which he clarified, saying: "The death toll has reached 48,000 and the number of injuries has exceeded 115,000."
Earlier, the head of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency, AFAD, Yunus Sezer, announced that the death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey had risen to 47,975.
