Planning Ministry records high monthly inflation rate

    The Ministry of Planning announced on Tuesday that it had detected a rise in inflation in January by up to 3.6%, compared to the last month of 2022.
     
    The official spokesman for the Ministry, Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi, said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Central Statistical Organization teams, through its follow-up to the prices in the Iraqi local markets, in all governorates, recorded changes in the inflation rate during the aforementioned month," explaining that "the increase in the monthly average was affected by the increase in a number of commodity totals."
     
    "Transport prices rose by 7.7%, while the restaurants recorded a rise in prices by 6.7%, the equipment and supplies increased by 4.2%. Miscellaneous goods and services rose by 3.9% as a result of the increase in gold prices, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 3.8%,” he added.
     
    "The annual inflation rate has risen by 7.2% compared to the first month of the last year, 2022, and the monthly inflation rate during the last month of 2022 was 0.3%”, Al-Hindawi continued.
