3 accused of human and drug trafficking arrested in Baghdad and Diwaniyah: DGIS

    General Directorate of Intelligence and Security DGIS announced Wednesday the arrest of 3 accused of human and drug trafficking in Baghdad and Diwaniyah.
     
    A statement by the Security Media Cell received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "in two separate duties, the detachments of the Baghdad Intelligence and Security Directorate of the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security at the Ministry of Defense arrested one of the defendants who carries out human trafficking operations in the Karrada area of Baghdad by smuggling girls out of the country, against whom an arrest warrant was issued in accordance with the provisions of Article (234) of the Rusafa Investigation Court."
     
    The statement added, "The other directorate's detachments were able to arrest one of the defendants wanted by the judiciary according to kidnapping cases in the Taji district, against whom a judicial warrant was issued in accordance with Article (421) of the Penal Code."
     
    It explained that "the two duties were carried out through intelligence information from Directorate and in coordination with the first and second divisions - federal police."
     
    The statement continued, "On the other hand, the detachments of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security of Diwaniyah, in cooperation with the Narcotics Affairs, were able to arrest one of those wanted by the judiciary in accordance with the provisions of Article (28) drugs, through his presence in the Sadeir district in Diwaniyah Governorate," stressing that "legal measures have been taken against him and referred to the judiciary."
