Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani discussed on Sunday, with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Victoria Taylor enhancing bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the United States in various fields.
The media office of the Speaker of the Council of Representatives said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): " Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, received the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Victoria Taylor, and the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy, Elizabeth Trudeau."
The statement added, "The meeting discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the United States in various fields, most notably political and economic, in addition to discussing current issues and developments in the regional situation and their repercussions in the region."
It added, "During the meeting, the challenges facing the region in general and Iraq in particular were reviewed, as well as ways to enhance dialogue and understanding between the two sides."
The two sides stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of continuous communication and enhancing political and economic cooperation."
