Government spokesman: A set of decisions will be issued to balance the exchange market

Government spokesman Basim Al-Awadi confirmed the new decisions that will be issued to achieve balance in the exchange market, while indicating that the structuring of the general budget law for the year 2023 will be completed soon.

"The general budget for the year 2023 is complete, but the issue of fluctuation in the dollar exchange rate caused a delay in its approval. Changing the exchange rate is in the service of the Iraqi citizen," said Al-Awadi, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

He indicated, "Prime Minister Muhammed S. Al-Sudani directed the Ministry of Finance and other concerned ministries to form the budget structure and restore numbers on the basis of the modern exchange rate during a specific period of time."

“After the Ministry of Finance finishes fixing the new price figures, the budget will be ready and will be presented to the Cabinet again. Then, it will be sent to Parliament. The budget for the current year, for the first time, will be harnessed to implement the government program, whether the service or the private sector, and all that the ministerial program pledged to do," he noted.

He pointed out, "There is a set of new decisions that will be issued by the government and the Central Bank via follow-up, in order to achieve balance in the exchange market inside Iraq."
