The Border Ports Commission announced on Monday, the arrest of a foreign traveler in possession of narcotic substances at the Zurbatiya border crossing.
A statement by Commission, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the Zurbatiya border crossing directorate was able to arrest a foreign traveler in possession of the narcotic (crystal) with an estimated weight of 250 grams."
The statement added, "The seizure was carried out by the customs police detachment and employees of the port directorate in the arrivals hall in a failed attempt to smuggle them into the country."
It confirmed that "a committee was formed, a formal seizure report was organized, and the accused was referred to the Badr Drug Control Division, to present the matter to the investigation judge to take the appropriate legal measures against him."
