The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, confirmed today, Tuesday, that Basra's success in organizing the Gulf 25 is an indicator of Iraq's stability.
A statement by the media office of the President of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, "The President of the Republic received the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, and congratulated him on the occasion of the Iraqi football team's victory in 25 Gulf Tournament."
Rashid stressed that "the success of the city of Basra in organizing the Gulf Championship is a positive indicator of the stability of the situation in Iraq, and it is also a message of reassurance to the world about the state of safety in which Iraqi cities live after it have suffered a lot from terrorism and violence," pointing to "the need to establish youth clubs and open libraries and entertainment venues, and sports in all cities for the purpose of investing young people’s time in practicing their hobbies, developing their talents and developing their energies.”
In turn, "the Minister of Youth reviewed the ministry's future plans to improve the reality of Iraqi sports," pointing out that "the ministry has worked continuously, at the Asian and international levels, to lift the ban on Iraqi stadiums."
Al-Mubarqa appreciated "the interest of the President of the Republic in the sports activity and his support for sports events and tournaments held in Iraq."
