The advisor to the Prime Minister for Financial Affairs, Mudher Muhammad Saleh, clarified the disbursement mechanism in the event that the 2023 budget legislation is delayed, while he is expected to be approved during the next month.
Saleh said, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Public finance continued to apply the exchange rule 1/12 of the total current expenditures achieved until the end of the fiscal year 2022, based on the provisions of Article 13 / First of the Federal Financial Management Law in force No. 6 of 2019 as amended." ".
He added, "Continuing investment projects should be included in the aforementioned exchange rule, including projects approved under the Emergency Support for Food Security and Development Law No. 2 of 2022, in order to ensure that the benefit is not missed, due to the delay in approving the federal budget for the year 2023 until the present time." ".
Saleh indicated that "the Public budget will legislated in the House of Representatives after it is presented to the Council of Ministers at a close date," expecting "the approval of the budget during the month of February."
