Prime Minister Muhammad Shayaa Al-Sudani confirmed that the 25th Gulf Championship has turned into an Arabian festival and a fraternal meeting.
The Prime Minister's media office stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani held, today, Saturday, a luncheon on the banks of the Tigris River in the capital, Baghdad, in honor of the delegation of the Gulf football federations participating in the two Gulfs of Basra 25. Among the heads of federations and their deputies, a number of football stars in the Gulf countries, and a group of Gulf media professionals, including Khaled Jassim, the staff of Al-Kass channel, the journalist Yaqoub Al-Saadi, and the staff of (Abu Dhabi) Sports Channel, in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, the President of the Iraqi Football Association, and a number of Union members and the governor of Basra.
Al-Sudani welcomed, according to the statement, "the attendees, expressing his gratitude to the participants and contributors to the success of the tournament and the decision to host it in the city of Basra ," noting "the symbolic importance of this tournament, and the keenness of the Council of Ministers within fifty days of the government's life to overcome all obstacles before its launch."
He described "the tournament as having turned into an Arab wedding and a fraternal meeting on the land of Iraq, which is more than just a sporting occasion," explaining that "the facilities that accompanied the tournament on the borders will continue beyond it, and that the Iraqis welcome their brothers from the Gulf countries among their families and brothers." .
