The Supreme Commission for Hajj and Umrah called on the Saudi authorities to adopt the new actual census of the population of Iraq.
A statement by the Commission, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said that "the head of the Supreme Commission for Hajj and Umrah, Sheikh Sami Al-Masoudi, called during his meeting with the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Muhammad Al-Rabiaa to adopt the new population census, which amounts to 42 million and 500 thousand citizens," noting that "granting of Hajj seats by the Saudi authorities to Iraq in accordance with its population will achieve the desire of the largest number of citizens who wish themselves to perform Hajj."
The statement added that "the head of the Commission has been able during a series of meetings held with the Saudi side during his current visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reduce the amounts of insurance imposed on Umrah performers and pilgrims."
