Brigadier General Angham Ahmed revealed today, Friday, that there is a government tendency to increase the female component in the Iraqi army.
Ahmed, who is the first Iraqi female officer to receive the brigadier badge, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the concerned authorities, especially the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff of the Army and other downward leaders, are serious about women having an effective role in the Ministry of Defense, and that there are effective women leaders in Ministry".
She revealed that "there is a tendency to increase the number of female officers in the Iraqi army, after finalizing and approving the issue of the financial budget.".
She added, "Promotions are continuing for all officers, male and female, as what applies to females applies to males in the ministry."
