The head of the Media and Communications Commission, Ali Al-Moayyed, announced today, Thursday, the experimental launch of the E.SIM smart chip service for mobile phone companies.
Al-Moayad said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Based on the responsibility of the Media and Communications Commission as an exclusive regulator of the work of the communications and information technology sector in Iraq in accordance with its applicable law and regulations for communications services, and out of its keenness to provide the best services to citizens, it was done, in coordination with The competent authorities allow mobile phone companies to launch the experimental electronic SIM service (E.SIM) in the capital, Baghdad, in order to keep pace with the development taking place in developed countries in the field of communications and information technology.
He added, "The importance of this service comes through its ability to enhance the efficiency of telecommunications and Internet services for subscribers primarily and the ease of enjoying more than one service for various companies by integrating more than one chip into smart devices, up to eight integrated chips.".
He pointed out that "this technology contributes to reducing the financial burden on citizens, as they will not have to buy more than one device to use multiple chips for work or other services.".
He continued, "The service helps to preserve the privacy of the SIM in the event of loss of the phone or exposure to theft, as the SIM cannot be removed from the device, which helps to reduce electronic extortion operations."
