The Italian Commercial Attaché confirmed on Friday, that the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Italy amounted to 656 million dollars last year, indicating that the volume of Iraqi exports to Italy amounted to 3.4 million dollars annually.
The Italian Regional Commercial Attaché for Iraq, Elisa Salazar, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the participation of Italian companies in this year's Baghdad exhibition is made to contract with the Iraqi government to rehabilitate infrastructure, especially industrial (transformational) facilities capable of manufacturing Iraqi raw materials for the purpose of importing them due to the high quality of Iraqi raw materials.”
She added that "Iraqi exports to Italy have declined a lot in recent years, after Italy was importing wool, leather and various kinds of salt from Iraq," stressing "her country's keenness to establish the best economic and trade relations with Iraq in a way that parallels the historical relationship between the two friendly peoples."
