Foreign Minister: Iraq pursues a balanced policy in establishing relations with all

    Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein confirmed today, Tuesday,  that Iraq follows a balanced policy in establishing relations with everyone, stressing the importance of respecting the country's sovereignty by neighboring countries and following diplomatic ways in facing challenges.
    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, that "Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein received a phone call from his German counterparts, Annalena Baerbock," noting that "during the call, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and prospects for strengthening it to serve the interests of the two friendly countries." The minister expressed his thanks and appreciation for Germany's supportive stances for Iraq.
    The minister explained, according to the statement, "We affirm our thanks to Germany for standing with Iraq," noting "the importance of respecting the country's sovereignty by neighboring countries, strengthening its principles, and adopting diplomatic ways to confront challenges and resolve crises."
    He referred to "the artillery and missile shelling carried out by Iran on some sites inside Iraqi territory in the past few days, calling for the need to stop such violations from the Iranian side, as it is considered a violation of International charters and laws," noting that "the government is keen to adopt a balanced policy in establishing Relationships with everyone, especially neighboring countries.
     
    The statement added, "The two ministers discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, and also discussed the draft resolution submitted to the United Nations General Assembly related to the annexation of some Ukrainian regions to the Russian Federation. In this regard, the Minister clarified the position of the Iraqi foreign policy, which stresses the need to adopt to peaceful means in resolving disputes, and in light of Iraq's commitment to the Charter of the United Nations ."
    For her part, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stressed "the need to respect Iraq's sovereignty," calling for "the need to unite all efforts to support the Iraqi government, especially in the field of strengthening security, stability, and the rule of law."
    "Berlin confirms its commitment to support Iraq at all levels." Baerbock added.
