The Chief of the General Staff of the Iraqi Armed Forces Abdel Emir Rashid Yarallah, and Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, held on Monday, a meeting with the Governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Eidani, in the presence of the Commander of the Ground Forces, the Commander of Army Aviation, and a number of security leaders, a meeting to follow up on special preparations to receive, the Gulf Cup championship in its twenty-fifth edition in Basra.
A statement by the Security Media Cell, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the meeting discussed the security and service conditions, as it was decided to strengthen the security units in the governorate with a brigade of the Iraqi army's heroes, and it is hoped that other units will be sent for the same purpose, as the meeting discussed the plan that was developed for the security of stadiums.
It added that "the governor of Basra confirmed during this meeting his logistical support for the security services."
